A new Guides section splits the "how do I..." questions that used to share one long Features page into five focused pages, each with real screenshots:

• Playing a stream URL directly
• Using the equalizer
• Listening to M3U playlists in the browser
• Keeping Android and Windows in sync
• Running RadioPit through Mopidy

Station pages under Browse also got some attention:

• More detail per station — language and a link to the station's own website now show where the directory has them, and the twenty most-visited pages have a description written and checked by hand instead of the generic paragraph.
• Addresses stop breaking. A station renamed in the directory used to leave its old page dead or scatter its page at a new address with no way back. A rename now forwards the old address to the new one, and a station that drops out of the list keeps its page for two weeks before it comes down — so a link you bookmarked or shared keeps working.

The homepage title also says what RadioPit actually does — equalizer, playlists kept in sync across devices — instead of leading with just the name.

The web player now keeps a running list of what has actually played on your account — song title, station, and when — with cover art next to each one where it can be found. Open it from the small clock icon next to the visualizer in the player bar, or from the Now Playing screen.

• Kept for about a week, then cleared automatically — enough to catch a song you meant to note down, not a permanent archive.
• On by default, with a switch right inside the panel if you would rather nothing be kept.
• Clear it whenever you like, from the same panel.

This is on the web player for now — the Android app has its own history, kept on the phone itself rather than on the account. Demo mode does not keep one either, since there is no account for it to belong to.

RadioPit now installs from the Microsoft Store like any other Windows app — a Start menu entry and its own window, no browser tab required.

• Same account, same stations. Log in with the account key you already use on web or Android and everything is there — no separate setup.
• The same player. Equalizer, visualizer, and playlists all work exactly as they do in the browser, because it's the same app underneath.

The screen the Android app just got is now in the browser too. Click the artwork or the station name in the bar at the bottom of the player and the cover art fills the window, with the artist and title under it and controls sized to be used from across the room.

• It opens at window size first. The button in the top right corner takes it to the whole screen when you want that — double-clicking the background does the same. Escape steps back out again, one level at a time.
• Previous and next move between your stations, in the order you have them arranged and within the playlist tab you are on, wrapping around at the ends. Live radio has nothing to skip forward through, so that is what those buttons do here.
• It follows the shape of the window. Wide, and the art sits beside the text; tall or on a phone, and it stacks above it. Nothing is squeezed into a corner either way.
• The screen stays awake while it is open, and only while it is open, the same as the visualizer — leave it up on a second monitor or a kitchen tablet and it will not go dark mid-song.
• The stream's format and bitrate sit beside the status — MP3 320k, AAC 128k, whatever the station is actually sending — so you can see the quality you are getting without leaving the screen.

The artwork is the one the player bar already found, so nothing extra is fetched and nothing loads twice — it simply gets a great deal bigger.

Not every track has artwork to find. Talk radio, station idents and anything obscure often have none, and those fall back to the station logo, then to the RadioPit mark. Nothing to turn on and nothing to change in your settings.

The next Android update adds a Now Playing screen. Tap the station name or the artwork in the bar at the bottom of the app and the cover art fills the display, with the artist and title under it and controls big enough to use without looking closely at them.

• Previous and next move between your stations — in the order you have them arranged, wrapping around at the ends. Live radio has nothing to skip forward through, so that is what those buttons do here.
• It fills a wide screen properly. Turn the phone sideways, or run it on a tablet or a car head unit, and the art moves beside the text rather than being squeezed between it and the buttons.
• The screen stays awake while Now Playing is open, and only while it is open — leave it up on a stand or a dashboard and it will not go dark on you mid-song.
• Artwork is sharper. Cover art is fetched at a higher resolution than before, which you will notice most on a large display. It looks the same as it always did in the small player bar.

This one came in as a request from someone running RadioPit on a car head unit, which is why it is shaped the way it is. If you use the app somewhere we have not thought about, that kind of note is genuinely useful.

Not every track has artwork to find — talk radio, station idents and anything obscure often have none, and those fall back to the station logo, as they do elsewhere in the app. Update from Google Play when the new version reaches you; nothing to change in your settings.

If you added a station and it never played — Play pressed, nothing happening, no error to explain it, and the same station working perfectly well in another player — try it again. It should work now, and there is nothing to re-add.

Stations publish an address for the server their audio comes from, and a good many publish more than one. RadioPit tried the first and, if nothing answered there, gave up rather than working through the rest. Most stations publish a single address, so this went unnoticed for a long time; for the ones that publish several, and whose first is no longer answering, the station was unplayable here and fine everywhere else. That combination is exactly what made it look like a broken station rather than something at our end.

Every published address is now tried before a station is treated as unreachable. Two things follow:

• Stations that gave you silence now play. Nothing to update and nothing to re-add — if you deleted one in frustration, add it back and it should behave.
• Track titles came back with them. The now-playing line was blank for those same stations, for the same reason, and it reads normally again.

This is a change on our servers, so it applies in the Android app as well without an update. A station that still will not play after this is a station genuinely off the air — worth trying again another day before giving up on it.

Plenty of station logos simply never appeared. Stations publish an address for their artwork and about a quarter of those addresses no longer answer, so the picture failed and you got the plain radio icon instead. Others were published over insecure connections, which a browser will not load onto a secure page at all — those were invisible no matter how well the station itself was doing.

RadioPit now keeps its own copy of station artwork and serves it directly. Three things follow from that:

• Logos that were broken now show up, including the ones your browser was quietly refusing to load.
• Your browser only talks to us. Drawing a page of search results used to mean fetching images from a few dozen unrelated websites, each of which learned your address in the process. Now it all comes from RadioPit.
• Stations you already saved were updated too, so you get this without re-adding anything.

The station directory behind Add station and Browse is also served by RadioPit now, instead of being asked of an outside service on every keystroke. Searching and browsing are quicker, and they keep working when that service is having a bad day — which, being run by volunteers, it sometimes is. The catalogue refreshes every night, so a station added elsewhere today turns up here tomorrow rather than instantly. That is the one thing you might notice going the other way.

Not every station gets a picture: roughly a third publish no logo at all, and some of the published addresses have gone for good. Those keep the radio icon, as before. The Android app will pick all of this up in its next release.

Searching the station directory — Add station, then the Search tab — could hand back a list with nothing to do with what you asked for. Type a station name, press the Search button, and up came stations from four countries and none of them the one you wanted. If you pressed Enter in the field instead, it worked. That is fixed: both routes now search for your terms.

While that was open, the results got a Sort control, the same one the Browse tab has:

• Popular orders by how many people voted for a station in the directory. This is the default and stays the default.
• A–Z orders by name, which is the faster way through a long list when you already know what you are looking for.
• Your choice is remembered, and it applies to further pages as you scroll, not just the first batch.

Separately, on the individual station pages under Browse: pressing Play in the first moment after the page appeared could drop you on the RadioPit start screen rather than in the player with that station running. It depended on how quickly the page finished loading, so it mostly caught people arriving for the first time — and pressing the button a second time always worked, which made it easy to miss. The button now works from the moment you can see it.

A handful of station pages have been taken down. Those streams had stopped playing — some had gone off the air entirely — and a page promising a play button that leads to silence is worse than no page. Stations are now checked before they get one, so this should stay tidy on its own.

Each station listed under Browse has a page of its own, and those pages used to end in instructions: open the player, search the directory, add the station, then listen. There is now a play button instead. Press it and the player opens with that station loaded and already playing.

• Nothing to sign up for. You land in demo mode — a working library that lives in that tab. Add more stations, sort them into playlists, open the equalizer and the visualizer.
• The starter stations stay put. The station you came for is added alongside them rather than replacing anything.
• It opens in a new tab, so the page you were reading stays where it is.
• Keep it if you want it. Create an account whenever you like and the whole demo library moves across — stations, playlists and all. Do nothing and it disappears when the tab closes, which is also a fine outcome.

Firefox and Safari will not start audio in a tab they did not open themselves, so there the station arrives loaded but paused, with the play button waiting. One press starts it. That is a setting in your browser rather than something the page can decide.

Separately: choosing Create Account from the demo banner used to drop you at the top of the home page with the sign-up card somewhere further down. It now takes you to the card.

A few stations have no stream address we can verify. Their pages link into the player as before rather than offering a button that might not play.

Mail about the player now goes to contact@radiopit.fm. The address in the footer and at the foot of the privacy policy was a personal one — it worked well enough, but a page about what happens to your data ought to give you an address that belongs to the project rather than to whoever happened to build it.

Nothing to do, and nothing has been switched off. Anything sent to the old address still arrives, and both end up in the same place.

The Android app still shows the old address at the bottom of its screens; that changes with the next release. Either address reaches the same person in the meantime.

Casting to a Chromecast or an Android TV used to put the station name and its logo on the screen and leave it there for the rest of the evening. The TV now follows along with what is actually playing.

• The current track on screen — artist and title update as the station moves from one song to the next.
• Album art — where artwork for a track can be found it takes over from the station logo, and falls back to the logo when it cannot.
• Titles are no longer cut short. Anything with an apostrophe in it — Don't Stop Me Now, Rock 'n' Roll — was being trimmed at the apostrophe. That one was never a TV problem: the same clipped titles were appearing in the web player and on your phone, and both are fixed too.
• The screen stays awake while a cast is running, so the TV is less likely to drop its screensaver over the player part-way through a song.

Nothing to update. What the TV displays is fetched fresh every time you cast, so this arrives on its own whichever version of the Android app you have installed.

Not every station broadcasts what it is playing — some send nothing at all, and those keep showing the station name on its own. And if your TV still dims after a while, its own screensaver timer has the final say; that one lives in the TV's settings, not here.

The player has moved from radiopit.drulle.lv to radiopit.fm. The old address was a subdomain of a personal domain — fine for something built over a weekend, less fine for something people now leave running all day. .fm is the obvious home for a radio player, so it seemed worth doing properly.

• Your account comes with you. Your stations and playlists live on the server, not in the browser — but the key that identifies you is stored per-address, so it cannot cross over on its own. Visit the old address once and press Continue in the banner at the top; you will arrive signed in with everything in place.
• If you land signed out, nothing is lost. Paste your account key into the "I already have a key" box and everything reappears. Keeping a copy of that key somewhere safe is a good habit regardless.
• Installed the web app to your home screen? Install it again from the new address. An installed app is tied to the address it was installed from, so this is the one thing that cannot be carried across automatically.
• Android: version 1.39 moves over on its own. Nothing to do beyond updating — you will not be signed out.
• Old links keep working. Bookmarks, shared playlist links, and M3U playlist URLs you pasted into VLC or foobar2000 all continue to work. Nothing is being switched off.

The old address stays up and keeps serving the app for now, so there is no deadline to move. It will eventually redirect here — the account handoff above is the reason to visit it once before it does.

The Browse tab lists genres, countries and languages by how many stations each one has. That is useful when you want to see what is popular, but awkward when you already know what you are looking for — finding Latvia or Bluegrass meant scrolling and hoping.

• New Sort toggle — switch any Browse list between Popular and A–Z. Popular stays the default.
• Letter headings — in A–Z mode each letter gets a heading that stays in view while you scroll past it, so you always know where you are in the list.
• Remembered — pick a sort once and Browse opens that way next time.
• Instant — switching sort reorders the list you already have; it does not go back to the directory and reload.

Also fixed: dragging a station to reorder it while a playlist or search filter was active could shuffle the stations you could not see. Hidden stations now keep their place.

The Android side of this arrives with version 1.37 on Google Play. The web player has it now.

Stations that broadcast in FLAC — a lossless format that sounds noticeably better than MP3, used by Radio Paradise's audiophile channels — refused to start when the stream was routed through the RadioPit server. They now play like any other station.

• FLAC stations start reliably — including Radio Paradise's FLAC channels, in the web player and in the Android app with Play through proxy switched on.
• Opus and Vorbis too — the same fix covers every station in the Ogg family, not just FLAC.
• Nothing changed for MP3 and AAC — those stations connect exactly as before.

The cause: an MP3 stream can be picked up at any moment, but a FLAC stream sends a short setup section once, at the very beginning, which a player needs before it can decode anything. Listeners joining a stream already in progress never received it. The server now keeps that section and hands it to each listener as they connect.

Live streams that use HLS — a modern format used by many broadcasters, including iHeartRadio's stations — used to show only a generic label. Now they behave like every other station in the player.

• Now playing — HLS stations that broadcast track info now show the current artist and song, updating as the music changes.
• Stream quality badge — HLS stations show their codec and bitrate (e.g. AAC 128k), just like regular streams.
• Sharper search icon — the RadioPit logo now appears next to the site in more search engines.

RadioPit now has a set of open, shareable pages you can explore right on the web — no account needed. They make it easier to discover stations and to share what you're listening to.

• Browse hub — a new page that organises internet radio by genre and lists popular stations at a glance.
• Genre pages — dedicated pages for Jazz, Lo-Fi, Rock, Electronic, Classical, News, Ambient, Metal, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Country and Pop radio, each with hand-picked stations to add.
• Station pages — individual pages for 100+ of the most popular stations, including all four Radio Paradise channels (Main, Mellow, Rock, and World/Etc), with station details and similar-station suggestions.
• Richer link previews — sharing a RadioPit link on chat and social apps now shows a proper large preview image.

RadioPit went dark. The web player, changelog, about and privacy pages now open in a sleek dark theme by default — you can still switch to light from the header toggle.

• Dark by default — new accounts start in dark mode, and your choice is saved and synced across devices.
• Redesigned landing page — a centered hero with a layered gradient "aurora" background and a subtle radio-wave motif that echoes the logo.
• Real screenshots — the old illustration is replaced with actual shots of the player, equalizer, visualizer, and station search.
• Polish — refined scrollbars, hover states, and a cleaner play/pause icon.

The web player now has a built-in 10-band graphic equalizer — the same kind of per-frequency control the Android app already offers. Click the new EQ button in the player bar to open it.

• 10 bands from 31 Hz to 16 kHz, each adjustable ±12 dB with its own vertical slider.
• 12 presets — Flat, Rock, Pop, Jazz, Classical, Dance, Bass Boost, Treble Boost, Vocal, Acoustic, Electronic and Loudness. Nudge any band and the menu switches to "Custom".
• Saved in your browser — your curve and on/off state persist and are re-applied automatically every time.
• On/off toggle — bypass the EQ instantly without losing your settings.
• Reflected in the visualizer — the spectrum sits after the EQ, so the bars and full-screen visualizations follow your curve as you adjust it.

A big batch of features lands in the Android app, bringing it in line with — and in places ahead of — the web player. Update from Google Play to get all of these:

• Equalizer — a built-in multi-band equalizer with system presets plus manual per-band sliders. Your settings are saved and re-applied automatically every time playback starts.
• Full-screen visualizations — an immersive audio spectrum visualizer with three modes: bars, mirror, and circle. Tap to cycle modes; the current station and now-playing track fade in over the top.
• Track history — every song a station broadcasts is logged. Tap a track to search it on YouTube, or share it with one tap.
• Sleep timer — stop playback automatically after a set time, so you can drift off without the radio running all night.
• Home screen widget — play, pause, and stop right from your home screen, with the live station name, track title, and artwork.
• Quick Settings tile — toggle playback straight from the notification shade without opening the app.
• Android Auto — browse and play your stations from the car's head unit.

Clicking About, Changelog, or Privacy Policy in the app footer used to navigate the current tab away — stopping your stream mid-song. Those links now open in a new tab, so music keeps playing without interruption.

• Regular browser — a new tab opens; the player tab stays untouched.
• PWA / installed app — a new standalone window opens; the original window keeps its audio context alive and playback continues.

Don't feel like using the web app or the Android app? No problem — RadioPit gives you a personal M3U playlist URL that works with virtually any media player on any platform.

Open the ⋮ menu in the top-right corner of the web app and click Copy Playlist URL. You'll get a link like:

Paste that URL into any of these players and all your RadioPit stations will appear instantly:

• VLC — Media → Open Network Stream, paste the URL, click Play.
• foobar2000 — File → Open Location, paste the URL.
• Kodi / XBMC — add as an internet radio source or import via the Music section.
• mpv — run mpv <playlist-url> in the terminal.
• Winamp, AIMP, Clementine — any player that accepts an M3U URL or file.
• Smart TV / set-top box apps — anything with an "open M3U URL" field.

The playlist is always live — add or remove stations in RadioPit and the next time any player fetches the URL it gets the updated list. No re-importing needed.

The M3U URL is tied to your account key. Keep it private — anyone who has it can read your station list. If you ever need a fresh token, generate a new account.

• Fixed missing icons after import — importing a shared playlist would create all stations without their icons. The public share endpoint now includes iconUrl in the station data, and the import handler copies it when creating new stations.

• Fixed casting for CMAF HLS streams — several radio stations (including Latvijas Radio / Pieci) use HLS with fMP4/CMAF segments (.cmfa) rather than the older MPEG-TS format. The web app's Chromecast logic was failing to detect this when the stream had a master playlist — it would inspect the wrong playlist level and fall back to a broken playback path. Fixed by fetching the actual media playlist (bypassing the server's synthetic master wrapper) before deciding which cast endpoint to use.
• Preserved compatibility for bare CMAF streams — streams that serve a CMAF media playlist directly (no master, e.g. Radio Nemiers) were already working and continue to work correctly after the fix.

• Custom Chromecast receiver — both web and Android apps now use RadioPit's branded Chromecast receiver (app ID: CD1939E5) instead of the default receiver. This provides a custom cast interface with the RadioPit logo, station artwork, and live track titles.
• Cast-receiver logo fixes — fixed an issue where switching radio stations during casting would sometimes show the old station's logo instead of updating to the new one. The receiver now properly resets to the default logo before loading new artwork.
• Improved artwork loading — removed unnecessary HEAD requests that were causing CORS issues; artwork now loads directly with proper fallback handling.

• Clearer tagline — "All your radio stations, on every device" replaces the vague "personal internet radio manager" copy. Description now opens with "RadioPit is a cross-device radio player" so the category is clear immediately.
• Demo button promoted — Try demo stations is now the primary CTA. Get Started moves to a secondary outline button. A hint line below explains what's in the demo: Jazz, Rock, News & more — no account needed.
• Real web app screenshot — the hero mockup is replaced with an accurate browser-framed screenshot of the actual UI: dark header, tab bar, live station list, player bar with album art and controls.
• Android screenshots added — real Play Store screenshots of the station list and directory search sit below the web mockup in the hero column, with a compact "Android App" label.
• Why people use it — the "How it works" steps section rewritten as three pain-based reasons: your stations not algorithms, one library on every device, broad format compatibility.

• Cast to TV from the web app — the RadioPit web app now supports Chromecast in Chrome. A cast icon appears in the player bar when a Cast-capable browser is detected. Click it to open the device picker, select your TV or speaker, and the stream starts playing on the big screen. Switching stations while casting updates the receiver automatically. Works with all stream types — MP3, AAC, HLS — using the same smart format-detection and proxying already built for the Android app.
• Station icon fallback — the backend API now returns the RadioPit logo for any station that has no icon set, so the player always shows something meaningful.
• Android app improvements — several UI and stability improvements shipped to the Android app on this branch.

After submitting on March 25th and passing Google Play review, RadioPit for Android is officially live! You can download it for free right now.

The Android app gives you the full RadioPit experience on the go — log in with your account key and all your playlists and stations are right there, perfectly in sync with the web app.

• Demo mode — try RadioPit without creating an account. Click Try Demo on the home page and start adding stations right away. Stations are stored in your browser session and cleared when you close the tab. When you create a real account, any stations you added in demo mode are automatically transferred — default starter stations are not duplicated.
• Browse directory — the Add Station dialog now has a dedicated Browse tab alongside Search and Manual. Browse the full radio-browser.info catalog by Genre, Country, or Language. Each category shows station counts and drills down to a ranked list of stations. A Load more button at the bottom of any result list fetches the next 50 stations — no hard cap on results.
• Pagination for search results — the Search tab now also uses Load more instead of a fixed 50-station limit.
• Keyboard shortcuts — full shortcut set for power users:

  • N / P — next / previous station
  • ↑ / ↓ — volume up / down 5%
  • M — mute / unmute

The RadioPit Android app was submitted on Tuesday, 25 March 2026 at 20:26. It passed Google Play review and went live on 26 March 2026.

• Audio proxy server rewritten — more reliable stream resumption, better handling of redirects and connection drops.
• ICY/SHOUTcast metadata service refactored for more consistent now-playing song title delivery.
• Proxy activity logging added to help diagnose stream issues.

Radio Nemiers is now included in the five default starter stations that are pre-loaded when a new account is created.

• Audio spectrum visualizer — three modes: bars, smooth line, or off. Click the visualizer to cycle through them.
• Sleep timer — automatically stops playback after 15, 30, or 60 minutes.
• Stream quality badge — the player bar shows codec and bitrate once the stream connects.
• HLS stream support — .m3u8 streams are now handled client-side via hls.js, with no server proxy needed.
• Audio proxy improvements — full ICY/SHOUTcast protocol support, M3U/PLS playlist resolution, stream fan-out so one upstream connection serves multiple listeners.
• PWA support — RadioPit can now be installed as a standalone app on desktop and mobile.

• Station search — search 40 000+ stations from the radio-browser.info community directory. Filter by name, genre, country, and language, or browse Top 50 by listeners.
• Now-playing song titles — live track names fetched from ICY/SHOUTcast stream metadata and shown in the player bar.
• Account API: key generation and validation endpoints.

• Web app launched: add stream URLs, organise into playlists, drag-to-reorder, play in the browser.
